Based on my own designs and ideas following on from my honours project I worked to design a new character. One of the locations I designed was the city of Jormundael and I decided to develop the design for the king of the city.
I began with some simple sketches to understand the proportions of the character I was designing as well as creating an initial design for the head, face and potential clothing.
From there I experimented with different poses and expressions in order to try and develop a sense of character that I was happy with.
The next step of the process was to create orthographic views of the characters head so I could understand how they would look in the final painting process.
Finally a full body colour mock up of the character was created to refine all the elements of the design into one final piece.
