Today we begin to move away from the city of Jormundael. The dwarves being excellent traders does not neccesarily mean they are the best sailors on the Errald Sea. From the peak of the mountain and the statue of Jormun you can see far out to sea on a clear day, littering the water as far as the eye can sea are numerous islands inhabited by some of the best sailors in the known world. The Ratfolk are native to these islands, the origin of their race is somewhat unknown to the rest of the world being mired in ancient history, however they made a home and a living out there became a loosely organised collection of disreputable island colonies. These islands spread for miles to the south and west making travel through the waters treacherous both in terms of the natural hazards and the natives being more than capable of catching those brave enough to try the journey themselves. From as far off as the mighty peak of Jormundael this land seems like a peaceful and beautiful place as the sun sets behind the distant islands. This is even true on closer inspection if you know how to obey the local rules.
I like the composition of this piece but I feel like it could benefit from being done in landscape rather than portrait. I went for this initial layout because I felt like it would fit with the verticality of the statue on the mountaintop.
