Many ships make their way out into the Errald Sea but few are manned by a crew with the skill to navigate the waters to the island of Venkarigan. The island is home to the largest colony on the isles and the main hub of trade in the area. It is controlled by the loose organisation of pirates that were determined enough to establish a base of operations this far from the mainland. Venkarigan sits a little away from a volcano that isn’t quite as dormant as most people like to think, it smokes consistently and is often seen to produce jets of lava which tumble harmlessly into the water surrounding it’s island.
I am pleased with the composition of this drawing, I wanted to capture a sense of motion in the ship and I feel like I could have exaggerated the angle of it a fair bit more to emphasise the motion of the waves underneath it.
