I have come to realise that most all of the work I produce is very heavily focused in a fantasy theme. Most of the characters, creatures and locations I design are all designed for a fantasy setting. As an artist I need to be able to demonstrate the ability to work outside of my comfort zone to produce designs within other themes and styles. As such today’s drawing was of a more futuristic vehicle to get back into the mindset of creating hard surface designs.
The design itself was inspired by racing dragsters and the enormous back wheels frequently seen as part of their construction. The method of drawing this was inspired by the work of Scott Robertson and his book How to Draw, one of the first books I studied as I began to learn. For a subject I am not particularly well practised in I feel that this drawing turned out well. Not only am I pleased with the overall design but I am happy with the way I was able to handle the perspective.
