To maintain consistency with yesterdays drawing I decided that I would create a close-up of the Tower of Thought that I drew in the background of yesterdays Inktober. The Tower of Thought is the central and highest point in the City of Contemplation, here great scholars of the Nerelaith would gather to read the great works of their civilisations best minds, study the stars and debate the next great step for their people. They have been gone for many hundreds of years now and many brave adventurers have tried to explore these ruined cities, however there is something that keeps these cities prepared to withstand the onslaught of time and treasure hunters.
This drawing turned out better than I thought it would, when I first started sketching it out I wasn’t sure if the portrait orientation would work particularly well but I feel like the final composition became quite strong. I have also been enjoying creating the impression of brick and tile work in far off buildings in most of the landscapes I have been drawing so far. When I move on to the next cities of the Nerelaith I will be trying to create something visually distinct.
